GSSGC’s award-winning program, Classroom to Career – Developing Tomorrow’s Female Leaders Today, addresses the issues that affect women and girls today:
- The “Skills Gap”
- The Gender Wage Gap
- The under-representation of women in STEM/STEAM careers
Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council, in partnership with Riverside and San Bernardino County school districts, charitable foundations, corporations and local community leaders created Classroom to Career, an initiative to help girls become better prepared for the challenges of the 21st Century Workplace. The program, focused on middle school girls, features site visits, hands-on experiences, and interactions with female STEM professionals. This program is provided through generous grant and funding partners.
Throughout the school year, girls will participate in work site field trips. These field trips will focus on STEM fields and/ or college campuses. The students will tour, meet professionals, participate in sample activities in each career field and learn the requirements for working in a variety of career positions.
An added part of this program is that each participating girl will receive complimentary membership to the Girl Scouts. There is no obligation to participate in any additional activities beyond Classroom to Career as a part of this membership.
If you have a classroom or know of a school that would be interested in participating please contact customer care and our team will reach out with more information.
