Print

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Joyce Knoll as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) for the Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council (GSSGC).

Joyce has been a Girl Scout for 42 years and has more than 30 years of progressive professional experience in two Girl Scout Councils. During her tenure with the Girl Scouts of Orange County, she served as the Membership and Volunteer Recruitment Director, overseeing 10 staff, 25,000 girl members and 16,000 adults. She began her career in seasonal positions and advanced into program development and implementation as a camp director and outdoor program administrator.

Joyce moved to GSSGC in 2012 as the Outdoor Program Manager and has progressed to the position of Senior Director of Program. She redesigned our outdoor experiences for girls and developed our successful STEM program. She has created a united program department with focus areas that are aligned with GSUSA. Joyce has significant experience in budget development and management, process improvement, staff development and customer service. She played a key role in the development of the master plan when Skyland Ranch was purchased and has served as an ongoing advisor for capital improvements.

In addition to her professional experience, Joyce serves on the board of directors for the World Foundation for Girl Guides and Girl Scouts and was the Volunteer Chair for the American Camp Association Local Council of Leaders. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation Administration with a minor in Business and a Master of Science in Accountancy.

Joyce grew up in Girl Scouts and is a product of the program. She first directed volunteers at camp when she was only 12 years old. From that time and throughout her many years as a professional in Girl Scouts, Joyce gained a deep understanding and respect for the very people who bring the program to life – volunteers.

She knows that the teamwork of volunteers and staff working together to benefit the girls in our community are a powerful force for good. Joyce looks forward to strengthening our work together and moving forward, staff and volunteers, with one heart rooted in the Girl Scout Promise and Law.

Yours in Girl Scouting,

Cynthia H. Breunig
