OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS – DID YOU KNOW?
At Girl Scouts of
San Gorgonio Council (GSSGC) we’re all about practicing everyday
leadership, preparing girls to empower themselves, and promoting
G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)TM
experiences. By collaborating with the business community,
universities and colleges along with local school districts to ensure
all girls have the opportunity to be a Girl Scout and reach their full potential.
We expose our girls to programs that provide them learning experiences in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), career exploration, and college and career preparation. Girls get hands on experiences behind the scenes with female role models and mentors. behind the scenes at local businesses and meet female role models, they tour university and college campuses where they participate in hand-on learning activities such as: computer coding, engineering, financial literacy and much more.
Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio strives to serve ALL girls and works tirelessly to overcome challenges that may prevent a girls’ ability to participate in the girl scout experience. So much can happen when we allow our girls to connect with something great, look at go- getter Alina. Alina attended high school in Desert Hot Springs when she became involved in Girl Scouts. She thought she would never be able to attend college due to her family’s lack of resources. She attended Girl Scouts’ GenCyber Day Camp where her enjoyment if the program changed the direction of her life! She applied and was accepted to Cal State’s San Bernardino Cybersecurity program. Soon after she received two scholarships and was offered an internship in the cybersecurity department. Most recently, Alina is now employed in the department and schedules conference calls for Cybersecurity leaders everywhere. Girl Scouts gave Alina the opportunity to find her WOW and empower herself!
