Product Recall for Heart Shape Charm with Globe, style #11051. Because our member's health and safety is our primary concern, GSUSA performs random testing of merchandise, as a complement to the strict testing requirements of our vendors and to assure compliance with safety standards.

We've learned that a metal charm, which was sold as an accessory for backpacks or purses, has one paint color that has a higher level of lead than we find acceptable. The metal content itself is safe, as are all other paint colors used. However, the blue/green coating on a portion the charm exceeded acceptable lead levels for children under six years old.

To error on the side of caution, Girl Scout Merchandise has decided to declare a product recall. The charm was sold as an item to be added to a backpack or purse. This charm was an accessory item, and not an earned award or an age-specific item. In addition, the charm was also sold as an accessory on the Junior Sherpa Bag.

Girl Scout Merchandise has placed a hold on all shipments of the charms from our distribution facilities, taken these products off sale, issued a recall to wholesale and retail customers, and will no longer take orders or carry this product. In addition, GSM has cancelled all future orders of this product, and the manufacturer will be required to test all current and future products produced for GSUSA.

Any members of Girl Scouts of San Gorgonio Council who purchased the item may exchange the charm for another item or may opt to receive full credit. Please, contact the Council Shop at (800) 400-4475.

The Temecula shop will be closed on Friday, December 14, 2007.

The Victorville shop will be closed on Friday, December 14, 2007 AND Saturday, December 15, 2007

The Temecula shop will be closed on Thursday, December 20, 2007 and will remain closed through January 7, 2008.

All Council shops and offices will be closed for the holiday December 21, 2007 through January 1, 2008.

The shops will remain closed January 2, 2008 - Janury 7, 2008 for year-end inventory.

The Redlands and Temecula shops will reopen on Tuesday, January 8 and the Victorville shop will reopen on Wednesday, January 9, 2008.

Remember, we want to provide the best service to you. When placing phone orders with three or more items, please fax or mail your order so we can provide prompt and accurate service.

Subtotal your order and add 7.75% tax. Then add your shipping charge - 10% percent of your order cost with a $1.00 minimum and a $7.50 maximum. Better yet, call us and we will do the math for you. Then just send us your order along with your payment and we'll get your order out ASAP.
